President’s Message

Siddharth Roy Kapur

President

It is a great privilege for me to have the opportunity to serve as President of the Producers Guild, the pre-eminent association of Indian film producers, which was formed in the year 1954 by some of our cinematic legends such as the Late Mr. V Shantaram and the Late Mr. Raj Kapoor. These greats joined hands with many other like-minded producers, to form an organization which would represent the interests of the film production sector, and to proactively deal with the challenges and the opportunities it faced from time to time. I am glad that the Guild has continued to follow the path charted by our illustrious founder members, by working assiduously towards the progress, development and welfare of the film industry.

Acknowledging the remarkable growth of the TV sector, in 2004 the Guild decided to welcome the television production fraternity within its fold. And now in the year 2017, following in the best traditions of keeping pace with the changing times, The Film and Television Producers Guild of India has been renamed Producers Guild of India, in order to be inclusive of producers who tell their stories on the web and digital mediums. With this the Guild has widened its mandate, by opening its membership to content creators across all audio-visual platforms - film, television and digital. This will ensure that as the premier association representing producers across India, the Guild is completely in step with the changing times and inclusive of all creators of content, regardless of which platform they are producing for.
