The Film & Television Producers Guild of India Limited is an autonomous non-profit entertainment trade body comprising of industry stakeholders. The Guild assumes varied roles of significance in the paradigm of the Indian entertainment industry such as being a principal negotiator with the Government on various critical issues, resolving intra and external trade disputes of the industry, liaising with foreign delegations and arranging conclaves for the benefit of its members.

Established as The Film Producers Guild of India Ltd. in 1954 by the stalwarts of the Indian film industry including Raj Kapoor, Mehboob Khan, Sasadhar Mukerji, B.N. Sircar, V. Shantaram, Vijay Bhatt, B.R. Chopra , the Guild also incorporated the television sector in its fold in 2004 and assumed its current nomenclature as The Film & Television Producers Guild of India Ltd. (Guild).

The Guild has also been instrumental in organizing fund raisers such as ‘Saath Hain Hum – Uttarakhand’ and ‘ Hum Hain... Ummeed-E-Kashmir’ in aid of victims and seminars & conventions with influential trade bodies like FICCI and CII. Also, the Guild has instituted STAR Guild Awards for excellence in film and television – an award by the industry, for the industry and of the industry.


From renowned film makers/production houses like Yashraj films, Ramesh Sippy, Mukesh Bhatt, Subhash Ghai, Vidhu Vinod Chopra, Rakesh Roshan, AB Corp, Prakash Jha, Eros entertainment, Excel Entertainment ; to the young brigade of Siddharth Roy Kapur, Aditya Chopra, Karan Johar, Ashutosh Gowariker, Farhan Akhtar, Raj Kumar Hirani, Kunal Kohli, Rohan Sippy, Ritesh Batra, Guneet Monga etc. to stars turned producers like Aamir Khan, Salman Khan, Shah Rukh Khan, Anil Kapoor, Anupam Kher, Anushka Sharma; to new diversified media companies like Disney -UTV, Reliance Entertainment, Balaji telefilms, PVR, Viacom 18, Fox Star Studios; to the film makers of international stature from the East and South such as Mrinal Sen, Goutam Ghose, D. Suresh Babu, etc., to leading TV production houses like Star TV, Colors, Sony TV - all are symbols of the Indian filmed content.

The Guild‘s Council of Management in 2017 is headed by its President Shri Siddharth Roy Kapur is a judicious combination of young turks & veterans of the industry and is primarily responsible for taking crucial decisions in the larger interest of members and from the perspective of the entertainment industry over and above formulating the modus operandi for smooth functioning of the Guild.

Membership of the Guild


            Producers need to satisfy the following pre-conditions in their quest to become members of the Guild:-

1. Film Producers

Have produced at least one film in the last 2 years OR in the process of starting a new film in the next 6 months from the date of the application

2. TV content Producers

Have produced at least one TV program which has completed one year of telecast at the time of application


1. Company details and Projects

The producers aspiring to become members of the Guild and satisfying the eligibility criterion (as mentioned above) need to forward necessary details enlisting the Films or TV programs produced by them, future projects in the pipeline and a brief summary about their career in the entertainment industry. 2. Scrutiny of Applications

The application so received will be forwarded to the Committee of the Guild, which will study and evaluate the application & arrive at a decision whether to accept or reject the application. The final decision as regards the admission to a prospective aspirant rests purely and absolutely at the discretion of the Committee.

3. Formal Invitation to join Guild

Since the membership of the Guild is strictly under invitation by the Committee of the Guild, hence the formal invitation will be sent to the applicant post the approval to complete the formalities.

4. Membership form

The membership form will have to be filled in duplicate by the producer along with the requisite documents mentioned therein such as Memorandum & Articles of Association (in case of a company)/Partnership Deed (in case of a partnership firm) and 2 photos of the Authorised Representative plus Fees for securing admission to the Guild. 5. Membership Fees

The Membership Form must also be accompanied with a cheque/DD in favour of “The Film & Television Producers Guild of India Ltd.” payable at Mumbai for the following:

One Time Admission fee - Rs.25,000/-

Annual Subscription fee of - Rs.100,000/-

Service tax @ 15% - Rs.18,750/-
